我感叹到,如此简单的快乐,好像很久很久没有体验过了,即便说现在的各种软件可以在任何时间播放任何想要听到的音乐,可是这样聚神听一点音乐的时间可谓难得,那1960年代的录像模糊不清,酒店的音响也不怎么清楚,可是完全不能妨碍聆听的体验。一瞬间觉得 Bill Evans和 Glenn Gould竟有多少相似之处。

同另一个朋友谈起十年前的音乐环境,十年前,才是真正的少年时光啊。我坦言印象里当时听到的不论摇滚乐还是流行音乐都不多,一则本来资源也少不如现今网络如此方便,二则读中学的时候父母给我买了 CD 机然后我在学校附近新华书店淘碟买来的都是古典,十几岁的我还没有分辨音乐好坏的能力,买古典最初的想法是因为觉得同样花二十块钱买张唱片,古典要比流行音乐经得起反复播放多,其次那个年龄多少都想在同学中间显得与众不同些。其余零星的流行音乐都仰仗在电视台做音乐节目的小姨从南方带回的唱片。大多是音乐杂志的合辑唱片,被反复听到滥,Ribbie Williams 是我高中最喜爱的男歌手,我还在寝室贴过海报。
涅磐我在中学第一次听说,那时候 Kurt 已经死去有六七年。不论从名字还是扮相,这个乐队都没有吸引我的地方。我当时顽固地以为一个外国乐队,起涅磐这个名字又扯上毒品什么的,再加上 Kurt 的自杀纯粹是哗众取宠,音乐风格大底就是不羁年轻人声嘶力竭的吼叫吧。
我不知道这些看起来老成实际上幼稚无比的想法到底是怎么冒出来的 (实际上即便是现在我的同龄人中不少人还是抱着这样偏见吧,不仅是对涅磐,还是对摇滚乐,或者说对 grunge),总之就我也就这么错过了很多年。直到快要走到 Teenager 之路的尽头时,才第一次听到 Kurt 在纽约 MTV 不插电弹的吉他,对涅磐的所有偏见才全部消除。
我在无解的游记“行走西雅图”里看到 Kurt 在华盛顿的公寓外长椅上被前来缅怀的人们写满了留言,其中有个人这么写 Kurt, My teenage dream. Thanks for the memories. R.I.P。
我在真正的少年时代错过了这个乐队,但我可以说,开始听到涅磐和 Kurt 的那个年头,是把我的耳朵放进摇滚乐世界的并在此四处遨游的少年时代。
1. Musica ricercata is a set of eleven pieces for piano by Hungarian composer György Ligeti (May 28, 1923 – June 12, 2006). The work was composed from 1951 to 1953[1], shortly after the composer began lecturing at the Budapest Academy of Music.[2] Although the ricercata (or ricercar) is an established contrapuntal style (and the final movement of the work is in that form), Ligeti’s title should probably be interpreted literally as “researched music” or “sought music”. This work captures the essence of Ligeti’s search to construct his own compositional style ex nihilo[3], and as such presages many of the more radical directions Ligeti would take in the future.
2.The Suite for Jazz Orchestra No. 2 is a Suite by Dmitri Shostakovich. It was written in 1938 for the newly-founded State Jazz Orchestra of Victor Knushevitsky, and was premiered on 28 November 1938 in Moscow (Moscow Radio) by the State Jazz Orchestra. The score was lost during World War II, but a piano score of the work was rediscovered in 1999 by Manashir Yakubov. Three movements of the suite were reconstructed and orchestrated by Gerard McBurney, and were premiered at a London Promenade Concert in 2000.

好了上面贴了这么几大段,只是大致展示了布鲁斯音乐对Jack White的影响,往前倒推70年(1933年),John Lomax订制了当时最好的一套“便携式”(重达159公斤)电动录音设备,固定在福特汽车的后备箱里,带着他15岁的儿子在整个美国南部“探险”,收集山村民歌。也就是说,JW之所以能听到Son House的珍贵录音,完全有可能是JL和他的便携录音机的功劳啦 其实就是Lomax 一家的功劳(Wiki. Son House recorded for Paramount Records in 1930 and for Alan Lomax from the Library of Congress in 1941 and 1942. 这个Alan Lomax 就是JL的儿子 )。

Donna Donna,原作是一首意第绪语的舞台剧配乐,意第绪语是中东欧犹太人及其在各国的后裔说的一种语言。歌词主要讲述了一只小牛犊被拉去屠宰场的故事,小牛犊其实是在影射大屠杀中的犹太人。歌曲的原名在意第绪语中是Dana Dana,是希伯来语中“主”Adonai的变体。
作者Sholom Secunda后将旋律和歌词翻译成英语,并将Dana 改成了 Donna,但是这个英文版本还是没有流行起来。在50年代中期Arthur Kevess和 Teddi Schwartz 重新翻译了此歌。尤其是1960年Joan Baez, 1965年Donovan 和 1968年Patty Duke 分别录制了不同版本之后,这首歌广泛流传开来。下面贴的是民谣女神Joan Baez的录音。
